Feb. 9, 1963 - Hitting No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 today is “Hey Paula,” a recording by the duo Paul & Paula. Paul and Paula’s true names are Ray Hildebrand and Jill Jackson. Mr. Hildebrand wrote the love song, originally titled "Paul and Paula,” taking inspiration from the Annette Funicello hit, “Tall Paul.” Musicians on the recording include Marvin Montgomery on guitar, Guy Parnell on bass, Hargus Robbins on organ, Little Caesar on piano, and Ronnie Dawson on drums.
