Feb. 4, 1962 - If things keep going as they have been, Ohio State could wind up with its third straight Big Ten championship, the National Collegiate title, and the first undefeated college basketball season in Buckeye history. The top-ranked Ohioans set a modern conference record by winning their 21st straight Big Ten game Saturday, a 97-61 victory over Northwestern. Last season, Ohio State went undefeated until the final game of the N.C.A.A. championship tourney when Cincinnati upset the Buckeyes. On Saturday, Ohio State’s all-American, Jerry Lucas, scored 24 points as Coach Fred Taylor used all his 14 men in State’s 16th straight victory.
