Mar. 2, 1964 - On sale today is the fifth long-playing record from the Beach Boys, “Shut Down Volume 2,” a Capitol records release. Produced by band member Brian Wilson, it is the follow-up to the rock group’s “Little Deuce Coupe,” released last October, and to “Shut Down,” a Capitol compilation album released last June. The single from the new record is “Fun, Fun, Fun,” with “Why Do Fools Fall in Love” as the B-side.
“Shut Down Volume 2” is the first recorded by the group without guitarist David Marks, who departed from the band last August following disagreements with manager Murry Wilson. Marks had joined the Beach Boys in February 1962, replacing Al Jardine, who has now rejoined the group.
