Aug. 17, 1962 - Charlie Lau drove in 3 runs with a bases-filled single and a homer today as Milt Pappas (pictured) pitched the Baltimore Orioles to a 5-2 victory over the Cleveland Indians. Lau singled during a four-run surge in the first inning off the Cleveland loser, Dick Donovan. He hit his fifth homer of the season off Gary Bell in the eighth. Brooks Robinson and John “Boog” Powell also drove in runs with singles in the first. Baltimore, which snapped a six-game losing streak, made only two hits between the run-scoring innings — one of them by Lau.
