Packers Destroy Bears in Chicago

Nov. 5, 1962 - Jim Taylor (#31) scored 4 touchdowns and the Green Bay Packers capitalized on numerous breaks yesterday in a 38-7 rout of the Bears in Chicago. The Packers scored their 10th consecutive victory, their 8th of the season, and their 7th straight over the Bears. Including exhibition contests and the 1961 title game, the Packers have now won their last 16 starts. The Bears were unable to mount an offense or to hold onto the ball, giving it up four times on fumbles and three times on interceptions. Taylor’s running and the passing of Bart Starr sparked the Packers. Coach Vince Lombardi didn’t have to call on his injured ace, Paul Hornung, who sat on the sidelines while his replacement, Tom Moore, ran for 38 yards. Taylor’s total was 124 yards on 25 carries and included a 51-yard run. All his touchdowns were on short thrusts.
