Packers’ Jim Taylor is NFL Rushing Champion and Scoring Leader

Dec. 19, 1962 - Jim Taylor (#31), Green Bay’s hard-driving fullback, became the third man in the history of the NFL to double as both rushing champion and scoring leader. Taylor, who ended Jim Brown’s 5-year reign as rushing champion, ground out 1,474 yards in 272 attempts. Taylor also set an NFL record by scoring 19 touchdowns and led the scorers with 114 points. The only others to make the rushing-scoring double in the NFL were Steve Van Buren of Philadelphia in 1945 and Jim Brown of Cleveland in 1958.
