Oct. 26, 1962 - The Boston Patriots, paced by Gino Cappelletti’s 20 points, staged a 20-point second-half comeback tonight for a 26-16 American Football League victory over Oakland. Cappelletti (pictured) kicked field goals of 31, 24, 17, and 11 yards, caught a 13-yard scoring pass, and converted twice as Boston ran the Raiders’ two-season losing streak to 13 games. The Boston crowd of 12,514 was the smallest of the season for the Patriots, who lead the Eastern Division. It braved a day-long fall of wet snow and near-freezing temperatures to watch Boston’s second successive comeback victory. The fullback, Larry Garron, the Patriots’ top ground-gainer on a muddy Boston University field, scored the winning touchdown on a 41-yard run in the final quarter. The touchdown broke a 16-16 tie. Cappelletti’s four field goals tied the league record set by Gene Mingo of Denver.
