Dec. 12, 1962 - President and Mrs. Kennedy started the Christmas season today with a party for about 1,200 White House and executive staff members. Christmas punch, a buffet table of culinary treats, and a Presidential gift awaited members of the Kennedy staff. The gift was a reminder of Mrs. Kennedy’s White House refurbishing project — a 15-by-17-inch reproduction of a watercolor of the redecorated Red Room. “With our appreciation and best wishes for a happy Christmas,” Mrs. Kennedy inscribed the painting, signed by herself and the President.
