President Kennedy Enjoys Family Reunion

July 4, 1963 - President Kennedy arrived on sunny Cape Cod late this afternoon for a warm reunion with his family and a long holiday weekend. After spending most of the day in his office, the President made the 59-minute trip to Otis Air Force Base near Hyannis Port in his jet plane. Then he flew by helicopter to the lawn of his father’s house in Hyannis Port. Waiting to greet him when the helicopter touched down were Mrs. Kennedy and their two children, Caroline and John Jr. It was the first time the President had seen them since taking off on a 10-day European trip June 23. Mrs. Kennedy is expecting a baby in late August. The President walked briskly to the front porch to shake hands with his father, Joseph P. Kennedy. White House aides reported that the President planned to rest over the weekend at his rented summer home. He plans to return to Washington Monday morning.
