Aug. 30, 1963 - When Walter Cronkite initiates his half-hour television news program on CBS next Monday, President Kennedy will be his guest. A week later, on Sept. 9, President Kennedy will also appear on the first of the new half-hour programs of Chet Huntley and David Brinkley on NBC. The President will be interviewed for 10 minutes on both programs. The two networks decided last spring to extend these programs from 15 minutes to a half hour. The President agreed to help open the programs to show his support of more extensive news coverage on television in prime evening time.
