President Kennedy Soaks Up Florida Sun

Mar. 15, 1963 - President Kennedy got an early start today on a weekend in the Florida sunshine where he will prepare for his third venture in personal diplomacy in Latin America next week. Mr. Kennedy left Washington shortly after noon, accompanied by his brother Robert and two of the Attorney General’s sons. Less than two hours later, they stepped from the Presidential jet into bright sunshine and 80-degree temperature. The President drove in an open white convertible to the Palm Beach residence of New York financier C. Michael Paul, where he will spend the weekend relaxing and preparing for a “little summit” conference of Central American leaders opening Monday in Costa Rica. Mr. Kennedy will fly to San Jose Monday to meet with the presidents of Panama and five other Central American republics. He will be joined by Secretary of State Dean Rusk and key Democrats and Republicans from the House and Senate.
