President Visits Father

Jan. 25, 1962 - President Kennedy (pictured far right in 1939) flew to Palm Beach, Fla., today for a long weekend in the sun and a visit with his father, Joseph P. Kennedy. The elder Kennedy is recovering at his seaside home from a cerebral stroke he suffered on Dec. 19. The President has not seen his father since Jan. 8. The President was accompanied today by his wife and their children, Caroline and John, as well as Caroline’s terrier, Charlie. The two-hour flight from Andrews Air Force Base provided some fun for the two children. Caroline ran up and down the aisle of the big Air Force jet and played house between the seats. John Jr. crawled in the aisle and on a number of other passengers. Only Charlie, the terrier, was confined; he was tied up in the rear of the plane.
