Aug. 20, 1962 - Frank Robinson (pictured) hit a grand slam with 1 out in the 10th inning today and gave the Reds a 7-3 victory over the Dodgers. Gene Freese, making his first start of the season after suffering a broken right ankle in spring training, drove in the tying run in the ninth with a single. The homer was Robinson’s 33rd of the season and his third grand slam of 1962. The third-place Reds are now five-and-a-half games behind the league-leading Dodgers. The Giants, defeated by Warren Spahn and the Braves today, are three-and-a-half games back.
