Aug. 19, 1961 - A crowd of 73,916, all presumably well fed, saw the New York Titans defeat the Boston Patriots, 17-7, today in an exhibition game at Philadelphia Stadium between AFL teams. The contest was billed as the "Grocery Bowl" because a ticket was available only with a $10 purchase of food at one of Philadelphia's American Stores. Coach Sammy Baugh's outfit scored its first exhibition triumph in three starts this season chiefly because the club has been strengthened in the vital department of pass defense.
