Nov. 9, 1962 - Former President Harry S. Truman had this comment today about Richard M. Nixon’s bitter withdrawal from public life: “A fellow ought to be a good loser.” Mr. Truman made the statement as he arrived at New York’s Pennsylvania Station with his wife. The couple were on their way to the funeral service for Mrs. Eleanor Roosevelt at Hyde Park tomorrow. When he asked if he felt former Vice President Nixon would remain out of politics even though he lost the race for Governor of California, Mr. Truman paused briefly and replied: “I doubt it.”
