TV: Telecast of Hollywood Anti-Communist Rally on New York’s WPIX

Oct. 31, 1961 - A three-hour taped telecast of an anti-Communist rally (pictured) in Southern California will be shown tomorrow night on New York’s WPIX-TV. The rally was held last week at the Hollywood Bowl before a live audience of 12,000 and a television audience estimated at 4 million, who saw it over 33 stations in 6 Western states. George Murphy, the actor, will introduce the show, called “Hollywood’s Answer to Communism.” Among the prominent figures to be seen are John Wayne, James Stewart, Jane Russell, Jack Warner, Robert Stack, Pat O’Brien, and Roy Rogers.
