Feb. 21, 1963 - Ten years ago last month, a baby was born, and TV has never seen the like since. The baby in question was born to a housewife named Lucy and her Cuban bandleader husband Ricky on a program called “I Love Lucy,” and the nation’s heart missed a beat. Never in the history of television has such an audience been assembled. Another baby will born on television tomorrow night. A girl, this time — the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Flintstone. They will name her Pebbles. Pebbles will have great blue eyes under long lashes and soft red hair that will be tied up with a bone. There is little chance of there being an offscreen birth to complement the TV delivery — as there was to Lucille Ball — because Wilma Flintstone lives in a bottle of ink.
