Aug. 23, 1963 - Starting August 28, some airplane passengers inside the United States will be shown motion pictures during flights for the first time. Trans World Airlines will exhibit films on 24 domestic flights daily out of Boston, New York, Philadelphia, Washington, Los Angeles, and San Francisco. The pictures, including such new productions as “The V.I.P.’s,” “For Love or Money,” and “The Thrill of It All,” will be screened for first-class passengers only. A TWA spokesman said today that the airline would begin economy-class showings later. When that occurs, there will be nearly 300 “film flights” operated weekly by TWA. In 1961, the airline introduced mid-air screenings of new features on its trans-Atlantic flights. Last May, that program was expanded to include economy passengers.
