Frank Sinatra took the next four places with “Sinatra and Swingin’ Brass,” “I Remember Tommy,” “Great Songs from Great Britain,” and “Sinatra with Strings.” Frank Ifield’s “I Remember You” was voted the top single record of the year, followed by Acker Bilk’s “Stranger on the Shore.” Nat King Cole came in third with “Let There Be Love,” and the Tornadoes won fourth place with “Telstar.” This is the first year of the poll, which was organized by Melody Maker, a weekly record magazine.
