July 18, 1962 - Red Sox pitching has seldom looked better than it did today — to the Yankees. With extra-base hits sailing all over Fenway Park, the American League leaders added a 12-4 triumph to a winning streak that now spans six road games and stretches from coast to coast. Home runs by Bobby Richardson, Mickey Mantle, and Yogi Berra — all in the fourth inning — highlighted a 16-hit assault on 4 hurlers. Berra connected safely on four of five attempts and batted in three runs. Mantle had two hits and knocked in four runs. Jim Bouton, the Yankees’ rookie right-hander, gave 11 hits but usually managed to deliver a double-play ball or a pop-up pitch after putting a man or two on base.
